The
Dawn of Time
The Universe Forms!
And for billions of years the world of Loregok sits among the universe like all planets do - a flat disk, with its sun spinning around it. Life eventually springs forth, and the things that aren't eaten by other things become the humans, trolls, dragons, etc. that exist on Loregok today. But as fantastical and exciting as all of that is, there is still something missing…

Television!
Millions of television sets mysteriously appear across the barren landscape of Loregok. Cave paintings mark the arrival of the televisions, broadcasting nothing but static.
The Strange Glow Boxes
Baffled by the purpose of these strange "Glow Boxes," the ancient civilizations use them incorrectly for housing, cookware, fashion and personal sanitation receptacles. This era is widely regarded as the time when television is the least entertaining, and yet the most useful for civilization.

For Millennia...
...no-one knows the true purpose of the televisions. But all that changes with Floksar the Unbalanced. Day after day, Floksar sits in front of a TV set, enthusiastically cheering and jeering the flickering static-filled screen.
The Crowds Gather
Large crowds gather to watch Floksar rant and shout and begin to debate about what exactly he thinks he is watching.
King of Meat Is Born!
Eventually a fight breaks out among the audience members, and in a miraculous turn of events, the televisions across Loregok begin broadcasting the scuffle! This fight and the subsequent skirmishes broadcast on the TVs become so popular that society demands a constant stream of this violent entertainment. Thus, King of Meat is born!
Kommodus the Komstructor
The first iterations of King of Meat are usually simple, bloody fistfights in the fields near Floksar. Unfortunately, this is adjacent to Kommodus the Komstructor's previously secluded homestead.
Kommodus Takes Action
As a result, the fights keep spilling over into his backyard, workshop and eventually bedroom. Kommodus begins building more and more elaborate security systems, filled with traps, lava moats, lawsuits and guards to try and keep them out of his house.

King of Meat is First Referenced In Hieroglyphs
Gristles, the fearsome enemies that Contenders now face in the dungeons, haven't always been opponents of the Contenders. For a time they are the great chroniclers of King of Meat history, with Morgmandamus chief among them.
Stats Worth Carving About
They diligently record all the action of each game in "Play-by-play" hieroglyphics that allow fans to follow the games, and Contenders to brag about their stats. Tragically, this golden age ends when Morgmandamus publishes a tell all hieroglyphic wall comparing several Contenders to several embarrassing body parts.
